48 Hours Pre-Empted for College Football September 20 2025

This Saturday night, 48 Hours will be pre-empted to make way for live coverage of college football on CBS, as the Washington Huskies face off against the Washington State Cougars in the annual Apple Cup matchup. The broadcast will air live from Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington.

The Apple Cup is one of college football’s most storied rivalries, pitting two of the Pacific Northwest’s top programs against each other in a battle for state bragging rights. Washington currently leads the all-time series with 76 wins, 34 losses, and 6 ties. However, in the 2024 meeting—the first non-conference matchup between the two teams since 1961—Washington State pulled off a memorable 24-19 victory, shaking up expectations and energizing Cougar fans.

Expect high tension and emotional play on both sides as these historic rivals meet once again in front of a national audience. 48 Hours will return with new programming following the game’s conclusion on its next scheduled night.
