Sade Carleena Robinson was 19 years old when her life ended in April 2024. Born on May 10, 2004, she was raised in Milwaukee and described by family as driven, compassionate, and independent. She was enrolled at Milwaukee Area Technical College and was working toward a future that included service in the military. At the time of her death, she was in her final semester and living on her own.

Robinson worked multiple jobs, including at Pizza Shuttle and the Wisconsin Country Club, determined to support herself and build stability. Her sister, Adrianna Reams, later accepted a posthumous criminal justice degree on her behalf. Pink was her favorite color, and that detail became a visible symbol of remembrance as memorials filled with pink balloons and flowers appeared across Milwaukee.

The Night of April 1, 2024

On April 1, 2024, Robinson went on a first date with 33 year old Maxwell Anderson. Surveillance footage showed the pair meeting at a Milwaukee seafood restaurant before visiting a downtown bar. Cellphone records and video later placed them at Anderson’s apartment on Milwaukee’s south side.

Robinson never returned home. When she failed to show up for work the following day, co workers reported her missing. Investigators began reconstructing her final movements using phone data, surveillance footage, and vehicle tracking. Early on April 2, her car was seen leaving Anderson’s residence and traveling toward the Lake Michigan shoreline.

The Discovery of Her Remains

Later on April 2, a severed human leg was discovered near the shoreline at Warnimont Park in Cudahy. DNA testing identified the remains as Robinson’s. Over the following weeks, additional body parts were found in multiple locations along Lake Michigan, including beaches in South Milwaukee and Waukegan, Illinois.

Prosecutors later stated that Robinson was killed inside Anderson’s apartment. According to evidence presented at trial, her body was transported to Warnimont Park, where it was dismembered. Authorities testified that her car was later driven to Milwaukee’s north side and set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence. Surveillance footage showed Anderson walking away from the burning vehicle.

Despite extensive searches, not all of Robinson’s remains have been recovered. The brutality of the crime drew national attention and left her family without the closure of a complete burial.

The Investigation and Arrest

Maxwell Anderson was arrested on April 4, 2024, and formally charged days later with first degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse, and arson. Digital evidence played a central role in the case. Prosecutors introduced phone records, location data, and images recovered from Anderson’s device that showed Robinson on his couch, appearing incapacitated.

When police searched his residence, they found blood on the walls that was later determined to be canine. The case against Anderson relied instead on the timeline created through surveillance footage, forensic evidence, and his movements captured on video.

Trial, Verdict, and Sentencing

In June 2025, a Milwaukee County jury found Anderson guilty on all counts presented at trial. Jurors deliberated for less than an hour before returning guilty verdicts on first degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, and arson. A count of hiding a corpse was dismissed at sentencing.

On August 1, 2025, Judge Laura Crivello sentenced Anderson to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Under Wisconsin law, first degree intentional homicide carries a mandatory life sentence, with parole eligibility left to the court’s discretion. The judge denied any opportunity for release, citing the severity of the crime and the evidence presented.

Anderson is incarcerated at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun and has indicated plans to appeal.

A Family’s Grief and Lasting Legacy

Robinson’s mother, Sheena Scarbrough, father, Carlos Robinson, and sister, Adrianna Reams, delivered victim impact statements at sentencing, describing the emotional toll of her death. Her sister spoke about searching for Robinson’s remains and navigating contact with law enforcement while still in high school. Her father described the anguish of not having all of his daughter’s remains returned.

Community members gathered outside Anderson’s home in a pink themed vigil, transforming the lawn into a memorial. In September 2024, a mural honoring Robinson was unveiled near Pizza Shuttle. Her family established Sade’s Voice Foundation to advocate for reforms in how missing persons cases are handled, particularly those involving young Black women.

Sade Robinson’s story is one of promise interrupted. A first date became a crime scene, and a young woman working toward independence became the focus of a homicide investigation that spanned multiple states. Her case left an imprint on Milwaukee and renewed conversations about safety, accountability, and justice.
