48 Hours Pre-Empted October 3 2026 for UFC & College Football

CBS true-crime fans will have to wait a little longer for the return of 48 Hours.

The series is preempted Saturday, October 3, 2026, and CBS News’ most recently updated program information now says Season 39 premieres Saturday, October 17.

No 48 Hours on October 3

CBS’s dedicated schedule explicitly lists October 3 as a preemption due to NCAA football.

That means there is no new case and no encore this Saturday.

The absence continues a run of sports-related interruptions that has kept 48 Hours off CBS primetime through much of September.

What Can Viewers Watch Instead?

CBS News directs viewers toward the show’s extensive back catalogue while the network broadcast is off the air.

Full episodes remain available through CBSNews.com, Paramount+, Pluto TV, YouTube and the 48 Hours FAST channel.

The most recent network encores included “The Gaslighting of Hannah Pettey” and “Tracker Dakota Black” on September 5.

Season 39 Premiere Date

CBS News updated both its official schedule and program information in late September.

The dedicated About page says:

48 Hours Season 39 premieres Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Its schedule page lists the premiere at 10/9c.

There is no 48 Hours episode on October 3. The current CBS News premiere date for Season 39 is October 17.
