48 Hours Pre-Empted for College Football November 1 2025

Fans of 48 Hours will have to wait a little longer for their next true-crime installment. The long-running series will not air on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as CBS shifts its primetime schedule to feature college football coverage.

Instead of the usual investigative reporting, viewers will see Washington State take on Oregon State in a Pac-12 matchup. The game will air in the Saturday evening slot normally reserved for 48 Hours, continuing CBS’ tradition of prioritizing major college football broadcasts during the fall season.

The network often adjusts its lineup during football months, and this week is no exception. While true-crime fans may be disappointed to miss their weekly episode, the matchup offers plenty of excitement for college football viewers. Washington State and Oregon State have built a competitive rivalry over the years, and this year’s meeting comes with conference implications and regional bragging rights.

48 Hours will return the following week with new reporting and in-depth storytelling. For now, crime-solvers will have to trade clues for kickoff as CBS turns its spotlight to the gridiron.
